RAWR!
Came the roar of a mighty lioness, her chest puffed out against the early morning shadows. Her small hair tuft blowing about in the chilly breeze. Upon closer inspection you will notice that this might huntress was only a young cub, and her roar was just a mere squeak compared to that of her mother’s. Lulanti didn’t like to think of herself as small and weak–and like to pretend that she was one of the pride’s great fighters or something else that was rather creative. The small lizard she roared at just stared back at her for a long moment, it’s tongue snaking out in a lazy fashion. Obviously, it was not afraid of her and that irked the cub. Growling low in her throat the daughter of the late King Mufasa leapt upon her unsuspecting victim, which sent the lizard scurrying for cover. Her eyes followed it’s slithering body and she quickly gave chase to it, giggling all the while as she ran up and down the side of the rocks.
It figured that she did not catch her early morning prize, and she sat defeated on the edge of Leopard rock. Her cheerful brown eyes took in her surroundings without much negativity, it wasn’t in her to be that way. Absently her tail twitched behind her as she felt energy bubbling beneath the surface of her fur, she wanted to run and explore. Perhaps mother would take them out to play this morning? Bouncing up to her paws at the mere thought of going to play, she raced back down the side of the rock, landing rather clumsily, but that was alright she was still a cub after all. Calling for her mom and siblings, the golden image of Mufasa raced through the tall grass. The very vision of a healthy young cub, and that very image would probably send a message to Scar. A message that there was indeed enemies in his lands.
Lulanti spotted the dusky form of her mother up ahead in the shade of a tree. Her three siblings were nestled up against her drinking their breakfast. The thought of milk made her mouth water, and the young lioness sprinted towards home. She slammed none to gently into her mother’s side and began to nurse along side of Neobi, Nuru, and her sister Zenani.

After finishing his meal, the golden prince from the litter made sure to curl up right in between his mothers’ arms as his siblings continued to eat. This was a common practice of Nuru’s, as he much preferred cuddling to many other things. In stead of playing? Nuru would cuddle, and the same would go for various other situations. He just wasn’t the active sort of cub at this age, especially after his young mind had taken in the sort of dangers that lurked all around him. Though… today was not a day for such fears, at least… not yet it wasn’t. Whilst in his new, furry castle of protection, Nuru breathed softly. Dreaming silently about… well, who knew? It most likely wasn’t about becoming a king, that could be guessed easily. After all, Nuru usually tuned out those conversations whenever possible. It was a frightening thought for a young male lion… especially in these conditions. With Scar as king, it would most likely be fight for the crown or be run out for both young princes, IF the two of them even made it to adulthood. As sad a thought that may have been, it was the truth. Those two young male cubs had such a hard life in front of them…
Whatever Nuru had been dreaming about, he wasn’t any longer. Awoken by the bumbling rough entrance of his twin sister, Lulanti, his small auburn eyes opened in such a sleepy way. Man… she was just everywhere today, wasn’t she? Always the first to burst awake and run around, Nuru being the last. Twins, yet polar opposites in many ways. It was classic, really, but it wasn’t his fault he enjoyed the things he did. After all, he was bound to, even with his apparent future size, he was still one of the smaller of his litter. And, of course, Momma’s little princey. ”Mmmrghh… Lulu, you’re too energetic for not being awake for too long. Take a nap or something, you’ve been running around all morning…” While his words were a tad slow, still waking up, Nuru got his point across. She was too hyper for her own good in his eyes, and should’ve been a cuddly-snuggly sleeper, as he was. And, of course, he referred to his sister as Lulu. His personal little nickname for her, cutsie, wasn’t it? Having her name matching his in syllables and sound, clever, no?
Rolling from his hiding spot between his mother’s arms, it took minimal effort to get nearer to Lulanti, pawing at her side for just a moment to prompt a response as soon as possible. After all, Nuru didn’t start conversation often, so he could at least be rewarded with a quick answer.

Lulanti focused on her meal intending on getting every drop that was her share. Her mom always reminded them that milk was precious and that they shouldn’t be late to meal times. Occasionally, when she was late she would go and get a meal off of Sarafina since she only has Mheetu to feed. Today that was not needed and she just managed to finish before her mother stood up and shook the cubs off of her belly, it was a gentle way of saying ‘no more right now’ and it worked all on four of the cubs. Licking the remaining droplets of milk from her face she turned sharply when she felt her twins paw pushing against her side. A pleasant smile crossed her face and she gave him a soft giggle for a response before she stood up yet again. When did she have time for sleep? There was so much to explore and do, things to practice on. She was indeed the opposite of her twin brother for she loved to play and rough house as much as possible. During the evening and night hours was when she became a true cuddle bug, and would lay on top of her mother to sleep, enjoying the warmth and smell of one so familiar.
“I don’t want to nap Nuru, there’s way to much to do each day. I really want to practice my climbing and stalking skills you know. Besides, laying here all day would get really boring.. I don’t know how you do it..”
She trailed off and gave her brother a confused look, honestly she didn’t know how he could just lounge around with mom. With that smile still in place the golden girl pushed her brother back just a bit, trying to maybe get him to play. Lulanti always wanted to play with someone and usually her play mate ended up being Mheetu, but he was off with his mom and sister today. Squeaking softly she twirled around him, her body pushing against his for a moment before she bounced away and began stalking her mother’s tail. It was a wonderful play thing that never seemed to give up either, which lead to tons of fun for her.
Both ears flattened as she caught the offending object, chewing on the tip and tugging with all her strength. Sarabi raised her head after a moment and stared at her daughter, a slight smile on her face as she raised one large paw and gently batted at the cub. Sending loud giggles through the girl cub as she raced around the tree to tackle her mother’s neck this time, purring loudly as she made contact with her. With that loving smile still on her face she moved to bring her other paw up to bat at Nuru, knowing that the cub probably should expend some energy it would be good for him. It was early enough in the morning that if they ran around they wouldn’t get exhausted. She stood slowly and shook her daughter off of her for a moment, before the former Queen fell into a playful crouch in the golden grass.
“Come and get me you two..”
The mother challenged her wayward offspring.
