It had been a few days since she had finally decided to leave the birthing fields, all four of her cubs were healthy enough to be out in the “wilderness” so to speak. Of course now that she had offspring to protect again, Sarabi mostly stayed near Leopard rock where the pride’s cubs were safest from danger. She wished though that they could see pride rock up close and personal, know about their family and feel a sense of pride. For now though she would be happy with her life and cubs, since the King had been rather kind towards them. On this fine evening the dusky lioness was watching her cubs play and run about the rocks that would be their safety net for some months to come. As soon as night fell across the land she would make them tuck in for sleep, and she would go out hunting to provide herself and some of the pride some nutrition. Her ears flickered about lazily as she listened to the world around her.
Life in the pridelands still seemed rather unsettled and hectic, nothing seemed to ever get done. With her former rank stripped away, she could no longer do any business. Sarabi knew that the King had not marked the borders in quite some time, and she wondered if any rogue males had breeched the border. How was she to know? The pride lands were massive and a rogue could easily hide himself if he was careful. The King also seemed to forget about the other animals and their own leaders that would often come to Pride Rock with their problems. He ignored them most of the time and some of the herds seemed to be in a sense of chaos. The giraffe’s and elephants were constantly bickering with one another and she feared that someday it would become more violent.
As the sun finished setting the beautiful lioness rose from her post, stretching and chuffing for her cubs. The young lions were quick to appear and rub up against their mother, it was time for their evening meal. Laughing softly, Sarabi lead her small troop up the side of the rock and into a small knot in the rocks. As soon as she settled down the four cubs fell upon her like little monster, paws kneading and teeth nipping at her tender belly. Ignoring the pain, she allowed them to feed until they grew sleepy and began to drift off.
“Now I’m going to go off to find myself something to eat. You are to remain here until I return in the morning. Do not leave this rock under any circumstance do you understand me..”
She spoke deeply and with authority in her voice, the cubs all gave a half hearted nod and cuddled up together in a large pile. Sarabi smile almost sadly and gave them all a gentle kiss to their foreheads. Without a pause she turned and left the cubs to sleep and dream, where as she would hunt and feast. Leaping down to the ground in a graceful motion the former Queen quietly exited the rocky area, chuffing for company. She hoped that another lioness or two were out hunting and she could join them.

The lean yet muscular lioness silently stalked through the tall grass. While her and her pride weren't officially in the clear, she figured they pretty much were. Maroon eyes blazed as she stealthy walked along, going over her checklist in a whisper.
"Well now. We've successfully found ourselves a new home. One that seems to thrive well enough. I have yet to stumble upon their King to tell him of our alliance. Hmm, he needs to come off that rock more often then not, for there is no way I'm going to simply waltz up among his current females. I'm certain there will be no fights brewing between us, but I just want to be careful."
Zira glanced down to her very flat belly and frowned slightly.
"I need to find myself a meal. I've seen to the need of everyone else, now it's my time. "
She chuckled to herself softly as she picked up her stealthy pace again. She soon found herself nearing Leopard Rock and the scents of so many cubs drew a smile to her face. The pride seemed to be successful and it just made Zira want to be apart of it so much more. She took a few steps to the north before a chuff reached her ears. Picking up her long, slender neck, she flicked her ears forth and looked around her for the source. Rust eyes narrowed slightly as she spotted a figure in the distance. She opened her jaws to send out a soft reply, slowly walking forth toward the lioness. Her tail flicked as she slowly made out the female as she grew closer. She wasn't of her females, though the chuff itself told the young lioness that much. She tilted her head to the side as she looked her over carefully. Could this be the previous Queen of the lands?
"Good evening. Mind a bit of company?"

Sarabi figured that she’d be hunting alone again this night, but the winds blew a unfamiliar scent towards her. The scent was that of a lioness and possibly one of the rogue pride’s females. At first she had hated the idea of their families joining, but maybe in the long run it was a good idea. If the pride was larger they would have an easier time defeating the hyena’s if a fight would ever occur. Turning slightly to the side, she watched the other female with a look of interest in her pretty brown eyes. She wasn’t about to go and make more enemies, it was bad enough that she couldn’t trust Scar 100% just yet. A gentle look crossed her features making her look less intimidating and her ears twisted silently as she heard the other cat’s words. Company would be nice, hunting alone was incredibly hard to do.
“Company would be very nice. I was about to head off in search of prey, I am Sarabi.. What is your name?”
She asked her in a gentle voice, hoping that perhaps they could strike up a new friendship. As it was she needed new friends. Scar seemed to be working his magic and causing some of the lionesses to argue and bicker. Infact she had not seen either Sarafina or Rahadi since she had left the birthing fields. It was known far and wide that both of them had a serious “crush” on the King, and would eventually butt heads when the time arrived for a new Queen to be chosen. In a way she was hoping that perhaps a new lioness could win him over, that way her own pride wouldn’t get torn a part.
Sighing heavily, she looked up towards the sky, absently wondering if her dear Mufasa was watching out for her this night. How she missed him so..

So the tan lioness was correct. She was indeed standing before the previous leader. A friendly smile stretched across her maw as she took in Sarabi's looks and manners. She must have been a very wise and beautiful queen beside her mate. She immediately felt sorry that the lioness had endured such a loss.
"I'm Zira. My pride and I are new to the area, so we don't know much of where the best place to hunt is, hence why I'm simply wandering about."
She paused, glancing around her quickly, wondering if there were any others around. Finding and sensing none, she returned her maroon eyes to Sarabi. A smile upon her maw.
"I'm rather happy that I was able to stumble upon you, Sarabi."

So she had guessed right about who this lioness happened to be. Instead of falling into a defensive or even aggressive stance, she remained neutral. A few weeks ago she would’ve went off on this lioness just for existing in her territory. However the realization that perhaps they needed the added numbers made her stop feeling so much hatred for the pride. Sarabi had not met their leader yet and it seemed that Zira happened to be her, and she smiled a bit at her words. Why would anyone be happy to seek her out? It wasn’t like she held much rank now a days and her pride seemed to be falling apart with each passing hour let alone day. With the bickering between Uru and Faraja and the budding rivalry between her sister Rahadi and Sarafina—it never seemed to end.
“Well if your looking for permission for anything I cannot grant you it. My rank is no longer high enough to give you any sort of privileges. Scar is the one you’ll have to go to for official business..”
She told Zira in a gentle tone, much like she used with her friends and family. Her tail twitched absently behind her in a slightly annoyed fashion. But it wasn’t aimed at Zira—she was just mad at how things had changed. A lot had changed in such a short time period.
“You look hungry, would you like to hunt with me? None of my pride sisters seem to be out tonight..”
Sarabi trailed off and offered another one of her precious smiles, hoping that Zira would take her up on the offer.

Katra's mother had little time for him any more. In fact, he was begining to think she had uppsed and left him which was a little upsetting but nothing he couldn't live with. It wasn't like they'd spoke anymore, anyway, she'd grown bored. He saw that now, but he hadn't then. It was to be expected he'd see things now he hadn't then though, he'd matured in the several months that she'd been gone and he was growing quickly, though still a cub. He stretched as he rose to pads and slowly made his way through the lands, hunting for anyone he knew.
While he was not close to the queen of his pride he knew her scent and when he inhaled it he smiled. Perhaps she would help him train a little, seems as noone else seemed interested these days. His smile was devilish, a demon hiding somwhere in his happy-seeming soul. It's what happened when everyone who was supposed to care either vanished or died.
The bronze-pelted cub moved with a bit of a swagger, a confident glint in red eyes. His tassel flicked in time with his steps and he really did look like he thought he was tough. Well, he did think he was tough and among his own age group he was. If Simba had survived the accident, though he had never met him, he was sure he could win the prince in a fight. He could certainly beat the queen's brother, Osoro.
As he got closer her scent got stronger and soon he could see two figures on the horizon. He frowned, realising that he did not recognise the scent of the other, and he slowly edged toward the queen and her companion. For a moment he stayed crouched behind a rock until his head cocked to one side and he smirked, moving closer and standing a little distance away, smiling at Zira as he sized the other up.
"Hello, my lady." He greeted Zira, looking to the other. "Nice to meet you, miss, I'm Katra." He told the other, hoping he would not get grief for speaking to the other from his queen.

"Hmm? Oh, no, I do not need anything of that matter. But I would be interested in joining you. It has been a few days since I've hunted."
She offered the past queen a friendly smile, her tail flicking from side to side absently. She wondered if the other lionesses would be as friendly to her pride as Sarabi was to her. That thought made her curious on the interactions between her family and theirs. She shrugged slightly, pushing all thoughts from her mind, readying herself for the hunt to come. Opening her jaws to make a comment, a child's voice filled the silence. Swiveling her head behind her, maroon eyes settled on the bulky form of young Katra. Looking up, she half expected Sakura to come around to discipline the cub, but just as she thought, the boys mother was nowhere near.
"Good evening, Katra. This is Sarabi, of the pridelanders." She paused, turning to the other lioness. "Katra is a cub from my pride, and of whom should be tucked safely into bed...right Katra? "
Zira returned her rusty eyes to the darkly coloured cub and gave him a pointed look. Always fond of cubs, Zira only wished for a batch of her own. But until that day, she mothered the cubs of her pride, always protective of them.

Sarabi was somewhat relieved by the other lionesses intentions, and visibly relaxed. Her shoulders seemed to sag for a moment before she heard the distinct voice of a young cub. Looking at him, a gentle smile crossed her face, she like most of her gender had a soft spot for cubs. This young guy was no exception to that particular rule. Listening to Zira state that he should be in bed, she nodded in agreement. However, it seemed that the cubs mother was no where to be found. That was always rather bothersome for the lioness to see that a young cub was basically on his own. He was far to young to survive all by his lonesome.
“Well if your okay with it Zira he can accompany us on the hunt.. As long as he can keep quiet. I’m pretty sure that he is probably hungry?”
She asked the cub absently and looked at the other adult. Ultimately it was her decision on what to do with the cub, he was from her pride after all. Sarabi wouldn’t mind if he tagged along, he probably needed the food anyway. Yawning widely she stretched her muscles, trying to get the kinks out before she had to run and tackle prey. Come morning she would have to feed her cubs and make sure that the rest of the pride’s offspring were doing well. Most were, but things could very easily go wrong.
“In any case we should probably set off to find prey..”
Sarabi murmured softly.
