Light, cream paws padded through the grasses. Mahogan pelt rippling as it surprisingly blended well with the mix of dark and dry grasses. Not that the land was destroyed no. Some plants just.. stayed dried no matter what. The sky was overcast as it should be during the rainy season.
Her belly scraping that lands as she cautiosly slunk about. A slightly paler version of herself hung limply from her jaws. The cub was not dead, but like all good cubs, he had gone limp to make sure he'd not be dropped by his mother. To him.. life was nothing more than a game and thus, he hadn't understood why his mother left the others.
Kinyaa, on the other paw, knew her descision was best. She hated and feared Zira. After the group of rogues came.. Zira changed... Not to mention Nahaja was still a part of that pride, though distant since Kinyaa attacked him. She had to leave.. and this resident pride seemed like the better place to be.
Bright, Acid green eyes looked up to the sky as the clouds began to swirl. A storm was approaching. She set Nassati, her young male cub, down on the ground. She laid and grabbed her son with her paws to make sure he didn't run off. She was not of Mufasa's Pride. The girls could attack her and chase her off.
Kinyaa had no idea Mufasa was dead. Most prides did know about eatch other. If you didn't.. you usually ended up dead by tresspassing. Word had not yet reached Kinyaa that the Pridelander King hade suddenly died in an accident. Still.. She had to join this pride for Nassati.

More often then not, she spent entire afternoon’s away from pride rock. It really did not feel like home anymore. Without the laughter of cubs and the cheerful smiles of lionesses, the entire place felt empty. The former Queen walked the lands that were familiar to her, memories of her youth coming back to haunt her. She used to run here with her friends on many occasions, and now it was empty. There were no cubs running through the savannah, having adventures or playing games. The cubs spend most of their time up on leopard rock, and they seemed very depressed. Sarabi shifted silently as she walked through the grass, the drying blades rubbing against her stomach. Occasionally, she would stop to rest or to just enjoy the view.
Though an unfamiliar scent assaulted her nostrils. Her nose tingled silently and she followed the smell. It was a unknown lioness that she was trailing, and she hoped to either scare her off, or welcome her. Honestly, it depended on how they reacted to one another. Sarabi knew the pride needed new blood and a another lioness would be a good thing to have. Catching sight of the red hued ess and a cub she chuffed a hello and a “I’m here..” sort of warning.
Sarabi approached cautiously and with a neutral posture. Finally, she sat down a short way away from her. Keeping a friendly look to her face she looked around. “Hello there miss, I am Sarabi former Queen of the Pridelands. Might I ask what you’re doing here..” She questioned the other female softly, not passing judgement.
By the look of her, she seemed innocent enough. She didn’t appear “evil” or “deranged” like some of the rogue pride lionesses. Sarabi smiled and watched her, patiently waiting for a response.

Kinyaa growled at the newcomer, worried about her cub. However, she soon changed demeanor as the former queen introduced herself. What luck! To run into such a kind and regal lioness. Kinyaa dipped her head in respect.
"Queen Sarabi... It is truly an honor. I have come to join your noble pride. Me.. and my cubs.."
The ess mewed. She nudged Nassati and motioned to her bulgeing belly. Kinyaa was in no position to really speak to Scar.. how would he react. Luckaly.. he wasn't here. Not that she kne HE was the king.

Sarabi remained seated in the grass, her gentle eyes watching the young cub and pregnant mother. She knew that the pride would welcome a new member to their ranks, and having new cubs would be wonderful as well. Though she wanted to tell the lioness that Scar would not have her son resting in his dens. The new King had made it very clear that all cubs must sleep outside the den, and as far as she knew they mostly resided on Leopard Rock. Her eyes flickered absently to the side as she heard distant roaring. After a few moments she stood and slowly made her way over to the resting lioness and her son. This time when she sat she made sure it was in the shade.
“Though I must inform you that our lands are going through some terrible times. My beloved Mufasa has recently been killed in an accident—as well as the prince. The King’s brother Scar has recently taken the throne and we’re all a bunch of jumbled nerves.”
She told her softly, a depressed gleam entering her eyes as she watched the lioness for a few more moments. Perhaps she would stay with the pride or move on. Either way she wanted her to know what was truly going on amongst the pride lands. Other wise she wouldn’t feel like she had a clean conscious.

The king was dead? What was going on? Saddened eyes looked at Sarabi. Would Scar be acceptant of her? The ess looked at her young cub who was hiding behind her leg. She nudged him out and sighed.
"Will... I be accepted? Any pride is better than Eastland Pride...."
She mewed. Nassati mewed and walked over to Sarabi and nuzzled her. Kinyaa looked at the scene with awe and smiled.
"I am sorry for your loss, Noble Sarabi. I am Kinyaa, and this is Nassati."

She could hear the utter distress in her voice, the desperation that seemed to mirror her own quite well. Sarabi figured that Scar would allow this new lioness into his pride, they needed new blood anyway. Though she hated the idea of letting her come in without all the proper information. Bowing her head down she sighed softly, unsure as to show to break the ice about the strange laws of the pride. Her tail flickered uneasily in the grass for a moment, unsure of all of this. When the young cub approached her she tensed up for a moment, unsure of his intentions. As he rubbed up against her she smiled brightly. Leaning down she bumped her nose against his cheek and nudged him back softly.
“If you are accepted here in this pride. There are some things you must know. As of a few days ago no cubs are allowed to sleep at pride rock. They are to be out in the savannah. It’s not something any of us enjoy Kinyaa... Also a lot of male cubs are going missing.. We don’t know what has happened to them...”
Her voice was thick with emotion, her ears flickering back a bit at the thought. Even though no one truly knew, she had a feeling that the hyena were killing off the cubs. Slowly of course so to not truly arouse any suspicion from the pride.
---
Scar of course had been listening to the entire conversation. His ears perked with interest at the two lionesses, one was not even in his pride yet. Of course he waited until the right moment to make his presence known to both females. Stepping out of the brush he waltzed into the area with a charming grin on his face. Though it felt to big for his mouth to be honest. Most of the time he hated doing this, putting on the act for these females. The lioness was quite a beauty but the fact that she had cubs deterred him quite a bit. Taking a seat closer to the mother, the dark hued lion reached out with a paw and snatched up Nassati. Bringing the cub in close he began to stroke him with one large paw.
His claws exposed as he stroked the innocent little cub. The mews of the child almost made him laugh, but he subdued those impulses at least for the time being. Focusing his eyes on the lioness before him he smiled again.
“Well now. Aren’t we just a beauty. Hmm... So Kinyaa if I allow you into my lands, what will you do for me..”
Came the question, his eyes glittering dangerously in the light. Oh he hoped she gave him a good answer—after all he wouldn’t want to hurt the cub now would he?

Kinyaa's ears dropped as Sarabi explained. The cubs can't sleep with their mothers? What.. what insane rule is that? Hyenas roamed about in the open plains... The cubs would never be safe!
"The cubs.. What... Why would the King make such a stupid rule?"
She asked, unnaware that Scar was watching them. He soon came into view, though it was rather sudden and grabbed Kinyaa's son! Nassati mewed and squirmed, terrified of the brute. Adult males were bad in his eyes, thanks to Nahaja.
"Mommy!!"
Kinyaa's eyes widened as Nassati was taken. Before she could snarl in warning, she was frozed. Captivated and terrified by Scar's gaze. How he looked upon her sent a shiver down her spine. It was as if he was the predator, and she was the prey. Scar spoke in an eerie voice. What could she give this brute?
"Nassati! K-King Scar... I... I offer the chance of new blood. I bring a son who can grow to protect you, future cubs that can grow to hunt for you....I can hunt for you... Please, I give myself to you to use me as you see fit."
Any other King would have understood the meaning of her statement. That she was willing to obey them as her King and be happy with whatever task the king gave her. Scar on the other hand.. might have read that entirely different.
Something about this brute bothered. her. She hoped Sarabi wouldn't look down upon her for 'begging'. Kinyaa knew Pride kings killed cubs that they, or the other pride males, hadn't sired. Kinyaa was in a bad boat with this. She had a son and pregnant with a cub that was definately not Scar's. She just wanted to get accepted without loosing the cubs.

He had no real intention of harming her cub, but the fear in her eyes made the situation much more delightful. Absently he continued to stroke the cub’s back, listening to him squeal and mew for his mother’s help. The lioness instantly fell into a submissive posture and her attitude showed her worry for her son. Scar patiently listened to her words, and slightly rolled his eyes at her. Of course she would volunteer to hunt for him, or to protect him. He shifted his weight absently for a moment as he debated on what she said. The pride needed fresh blood and she was obviously a capable mother to raise a cub this long on her own.
“This pride needs fresh blood, you offer me that. As for hunting that is to be expected of you. Though your son like the other cubs will not be allowed to venture onto pride rock at night. He is to remain out here..”
Releasing the cub from his grasp he placed his paw back down on the ground, his tail twitching behind him in an irritated fashion.
“Welcome to the pride lioness, I hope you find this place to be adequate.”
With that simple statement the cold hearted King stood and sauntered off without even bothering to look back at them. It was a good day in his mind, the pride now had another lioness to hunt and protect the borders.

Nassati looked at the brute in confusion. He wasn't allowed to be with his mom at night? But.. they were always together... She protected him from his father and calmed him. how could he sleep without her? As soon as Scar released him, Nassati ran to Kinyaa and buried his face in her leg.
Kinyaa nuzzled her cub and bowed in respect to her new King. She was saddened by the Rule. She knew how much Nassati feared the night and being alone. As Scar left she turned to Sarabi.
"How... do you manage to survive? There was something.. odd about that brute.... Eerie... almost evil..."

Sarabi had remained behind the King, her ears flattened in alarm and fear. She worried that he would kill the male cub, but thankfully it was just a bluff. As he left them both she walked forward quickly, wanting to reassure herself that both mother and cub were completely okay. Seeing Nass bury himself into his mom’s leg she smiled in a sad way. The question itself startled the lioness and she couldn’t help but laugh. It was a very hollow sound and she jerked her eyes towards the ground in a swift motion. How did they manage to survive? He had only been the King for a week and already things were vastly different. Everyone was on edge and the lionesses were always afraid something would happen to their cubs.
“To be completely honest Kinyaa I don’t know. We just manage to stay alive. As for your son he will be with the other cubs at Leopard Rock. Just because he is not welcomed at pride rock does not mean you cannot stay with him at night. There are always a few lionesses there as well as few leopard protectors that watch over the cubs. For the most part they survive... but sometimes they go missing..”
She finished with a thick voice, obviously upset over the entire ordeal. Though she was glad that the pride had a new lioness. She would fit in well here, even if things would be hard on her.

At least the cubs weren't completely alone. She felt comfort in this. Kinyaa nudged her cub away from her leg gently. At least she was away from Zira's pride, and Nahaja. Sad eyes looked to Sarabi.
"I see, It is good they have protection. I hope Nassati will be safe... I left the Eastland pride after rogues took over. They banished most of us. I left to save my cubs. We traveled with our former queen, Zira. Zira had begun to change, so I left. I also seek protection from my former mate."

S A R A B I
Sarabi listened to the lioness speak about her former pride. So she was one of the lionesses that Zira had brought with her. She openly disliked the other pride and literally wanted nothing to do with them. However the feline before her seemed different and so she was going to give her a chance. After all the entire pride wasn’t crazy, that was impossible. When she mentioned her former mate however her entire body perked up a bit. This male had to be extremely violent for her to take her son and leave. The pride lands had never experienced a male lion that was like that before, and she hoped that they never would.
“Well your safe now Kinyaa. The pride won’t allow anything bad to happen.. I can tell you that much..”
She told her in a soft gentle voice. Casting a loving smile to young Nass the dusky lioness finally stood and stretched out her limbs. They should probably move on, take a tour of the lands and show her where the cubs stayed.
“Come I want to take you to both to leopard rock...”
Silently she moved off into the tall grass, knowing that the mother and son would follow after her. Once Nass got used to being on the rock he’d be fine. Most of the time it took the cubs a day or so to get used to climbing on it.
